One Hundred Valentines

Thank you so much for your interest in our life-saving program, The Big Fix. I will give you some basic information about our event, our policy, and our goals.

"One Hundred Valentines" is the name of our Humane Society’s National Spay Day event.

We will spay or neuter 100 dogs and cats on February 17, 2010. No one will be turned away, regardless of ability to pay.

Our surgical team is Affordable Animal Care of Durham, NC.

We depend on donations of money and products from caring people, and the proceeds from our fund-raising events, to pay for our programs.

Our goal is to end the euthanasia of adoptable animals by providing free or subsidized spay and neuter to all who ask. We will sponsor six spay and neuter events this year.

We work closely with Animal Services, providing assistance to the pets of families in crisis. Every event is a "goodwill happening". Pet owners are treated with kindness and respect. Every animal is treated like our very own. We have learned that "cruelty" is often poverty and ignorance, not meanness.

We need to be highly visible in every community. Tell your friends; tell your parents to tell their friends. There is help for all, no matter the circumstances.

We need small gift items (Avon hand creams, Bath and Body Works stuff, Stay-at-Home socks, colorful gloves), for our gift bags. We need snack items for our Hospitality Room. Maybe some of you work for companies that would donate products. Remember, we are 501(c)3) Tax # 26-3784960.

Registration – Saturday, February 6, 10: 00 – 2:30, Fayetteville Urban Ministry, 701 Whitfield Street (Across the street from The Fayetteville Observer). We need help with application forms and deposits.

One Hundred Valentines – Wednesday, February 17 (Same place) We need help in the afternoon when animals are picked up. Every pet and owner will receive gifts. Some will need help getting their stuff to the car.

Please wear your group T-shirts, hats or jackets. We want every volunteer in full regalia.

Whatever it takes… (That's our motto)

Hello Becky, Well, for the moment she is doing okay. She was diagnosed with hemangiosarcoma a week and a half ago. We had the option of treating her with chemo but it would only extend her life a few months. She is a fairly old dog for her size....…
